I’m Thrilled to Reveal the ‘Love the New Forest’ Blog!
A love of travelling
When reading a travel blog or looking at accounts on Instagram, you’ll often see glossy photos from far-flung corners of the world. They can be so impressive that it’s hard to believe these places are even real, and it can leave you with a serious case of wanderlust.
But as well as all these eye-catching destinations abroad, let’s not forget about the so many outstanding and picturesque places we’re lucky enough to have right here, in the UK. Simply think of the idyllic Lake District National Park, the magnificent Cheddar Gorge, the stunning coastlines of Pembrokeshire and the Isles of Scilly with their crystal clear, turquoise waters. And, of course, the New Forest National Park, which is full of character and unique charm!
In fact, I will admit that while I do enjoy a sunny beach holiday abroad, over the years, some of my most memorable and enjoyable holidays have been right here in the UK.
Why I Love the New Forest
I’ve always been lucky enough to live near the beautiful New Forest. When I was younger and living near Salisbury, I remember stopping for picnics by pretty trickling streams, heading out on brisk winter walks, or enjoying delicious lunches in cosy country pubs.
In 2019, I moved to Ringwood with my fiancé. With the New Forest now within walking distance of our front door, there have been even more opportunities to get out and explore. And it seems that the more I see, the more I love the New Forest and everything it has to offer.
But what’s more, I have been able to see things from an entirely new perspective. Because I’ve grown up visiting the New Forest, going over a cattle grid and seeing animals roaming completely free seems normal. But when friends and family have visited, I have been able to see their surprise as a group of horses wander past, or a pig scurries across the road to find more acorns. This has just made me appreciate and respect the uniqueness of the New Forest even more.
Not another travel blog
I wanted to start my own blog and instead of showcasing places abroad, I wanted to highlight why the UK has so much to offer. And where better to focus than 100% on the New Forest National Park.
I want this Love the New Forest blog to highlight some of the wonderful things to see and do in the area, from showstopping walks to exhilarating activities. I want it to showcase characterful towns and villages, the huge variety of places to stay, unforgettable meals, hidden history and much more. But I also want to dig deeper, discovering hidden gems and sharing local knowledge and deep-rooted traditions.
I don’t confess to knowing everything about the New Forest, but I'm looking forward to going on a journey of discovery and learning more about what this magnificent area has to offer. I also hope to inspire others to explore too, whether you've lived here all your life, are new to the area or are planning a trip to the New Forest.
Admittedly, we might not always have sunny weather, but whatever the season, there is always something incredible to see in the New Forest.
I’d love to know whether you’re local, have ever visited the New Forest, or if you plan to visit in the future for a staycation!
